Free and locked running time of six DramaBox dramas read Oct 31, from 36:03 free on No More Blood to 16:13 free on My Weak Little Dog

My Billionaire Patient Is My Baby Daddy sat first in the Must-sees row on dramabox.com on Oct 31, and its page answers "is DramaBox free" on its own: episodes 1 to 9 are unlocked, episode 10 is locked. Add up the episode lengths in that page's data and the nine free episodes run 22 minutes 5 seconds of an 80:46 story. Free to start, paid to finish, and the price of the rest is printed nowhere we looked.

TL;DR: Is DramaBox free? For about 9 episodes: that is the median on the 38 DramaBox titles in our catalog with a free count. On six dramas we timed on Oct 31, the free episodes ran 16 to 36 minutes, and they were the longer episodes. After that you pay in coins or a Membership; the App Store lists ten purchase rows from $4.99 to $19.99 and does not say what each buys. Checked Oct 31, 2026.

As of Oct 31, 2026: six drama pages, both store listings and DramaBox's terms as they read that day; catalog free counts as read Oct 18 to 24.

Is DramaBox free? (quick answer)

Free to download and free to start, not free to finish. The App Store line reads "Free · In‑App Purchases", and Google Play says the app "is free to use" before suggesting "subscribing for exclusive perks". Of the 38 DramaBox titles in our catalog with a free count, the median gives 9 free episodes. Both stores say the app shows ads. Past the first lock you buy or earn coins, or pay for a Membership, and DramaBox's terms say "All fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable." Our DramaBox app page keeps the store ratings and the price rows.

Free and locked running time of six DramaBox dramas read Oct 31, from 36:03 free on No More Blood to 16:13 free on My Weak Little Dog Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from the episode lists and lengths on DramaBox's drama pages, Oct 31, 2026.

One drama, read Oct 31: 9 free episodes, 22 of 81 minutes

DramaBox's drama pages carry the whole episode list in their page data, each episode flagged unlocked or not, with its length. On My Billionaire Patient Is My Baby Daddy the flags read unlocked for episodes 1 to 9 and locked for 10 to 45. That is 20% of the episodes, but 27% of the running time, because the opening episodes are the long ones. Episode 1 runs 3:29, the longest of the 45. The nine free episodes have a median length of 2:25; the 36 locked ones, 1:34. Our page

What the lock costs, the page does not say. Each locked episode in its data carries a price field, and on all 36 it reads 0. DramaBox's own site text has the line "Unlock this episode for {{price}} Coins", with the number left as a blank to fill.

Six DramaBox dramas timed: 16 to 36 free minutes

The same day we read five more pages the same way: the next four titles in the Must-sees row, and He Broke the Heart That Saved Him, number 2 on DramaBox's Trending row in our Oct 18 read. We did not read the sixth Must-sees title, Wet Hot Summer with the Boy I Lost.

Times are our sums of the episode lengths in each page's data, read Oct 31, 2026.

The pattern from the first page holds on all six: free episodes run longer than locked ones, a median of 1:48 to 3:26 a free episode against 1:24 to 2:23 a locked one. Episode 1 is the longest episode in five of the six. So the free share is bigger by the clock than by the count: He Broke the Heart That Saved Him unlocks 19% of its episodes and 27% of its running time.

If you want the most story for nothing, No More Blood For My Vampire First Love is the one: 36 minutes, more than a third of it, before the lock. My Weak Little Dog Is a Legendary Sky Lion is the stingiest of the six, 16 minutes and then 42 locked episodes.

Desk note: All six pages lock the same way: a run of unlocked episodes from episode 1, then every episode after the first lock is locked. None unlocks a later episode for free, so on these six the first lock is the paywall, and the free count is the whole free run.

Across 38 DramaBox titles: a median of 9 free

The six are titles DramaBox puts up front. For the wider view we use our catalog: 188 DramaBox titles, 37 of them flagged 17+ and left out. Of the other 151, 38 have a free count from DramaBox's own episode list, read Oct 18 to 24. The median is 9 free; 10 free is the most common count, on 10 titles; 25 of the 38 give 7 to 10.

Bar chart of free episodes on 38 DramaBox titles: 10 titles give 10 free, 5 each give 7, 8 and 9, down to 1 title with 4 and 1 with 16 Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from DramaBox drama pages (episode list) in our catalog, read Oct 18 to 24, 2026. 17+ titles left out.

The ends are far apart: 16 free on the vampire drama above, 4 free of 54 on the stingiest title. The median story runs 51.5 episodes and the median free share is 17%, about one episode in six. That puts DramaBox level with its rivals in the same catalog, not ahead: GoodShort's median is also 9, on 599 titles (Is GoodShort Free?), and NetShort's is 9 on 2,144 listings (Is NetShort Free?).

One caution on the 9: 18 of the 38 held a place on DramaBox's Trending row in one of our reads, Oct 18 to 24, and the other 113 non-17+ DramaBox titles in our catalog have no free count yet.

What a $19.99 row buys: the App Store does not say

On Oct 31 the US App Store listed ten in-app purchases for DramaBox, the same six prices we read there on Oct 18 and Oct 26. Seven rows are called "Membership": five at $19.99, one at $17.99 and one at $5.99. Three are called "Special offer": $4.99, $9.99 and $19.99. None says how long it lasts or how many coins it holds. Google Play gives only a range, "$0.49 - $299.99 per item".

Table of DramaBox's ten App Store purchase rows on Oct 31, 2026: Membership at $19.99 five times, $17.99 and $5.99; Special offer at $19.99, $9.99 and $4.99 Table: ShortDramaDesk, from DramaBox's App Store and Google Play listings, Oct 31, 2026.

DramaBox's website hints at a period. Its interface text on dramabox.com includes a "VIP Weekly Pass: {{percent}}% Off" label, so DramaBox's own site has text for a weekly pass; it gives no price for one. Reviewers supply one. Of the 250 most recent App Store reviews, posted Oct 9 to 29, 12 put a weekly price on DramaBox, and 9 of those say $19.99 or $20. A one-star review on Oct 27, titled "$19.99 a week": "Don’t get too invested because the price point is ridiculous. Who’s going to spend $19.99 a week?"

If a $19.99 row is weekly, as those reviewers say, a year of it comes to $1,039.48 by our math. Four of the 250 reviews mention $150 a year, a price that is not among the ten App Store rows. Not everyone minds the bill: a five-star review on Oct 22 says "The yearly subscription is absolutely worth it for the unlimited access". We cannot match any of these figures to a row, because the listing names no period.

Coins: DramaBox prints no price per episode

DramaBox's terms confirm the coins: "Users can top up to acquire Coin (s). Coin (s) should be utilized in DramaBox only, and cannot be exchanged to any currency." On Oct 31 Google Play showed a promotion card, "Celebrate Diwali! Buy 100 coins, get 100 free.", marked "Expires on 11/17", with no price beside it. No DramaBox page we read gives a coin price for an episode, so we give no cost to finish. ReelShort does: an episode "usually costs 60 coins" (ReelShort coins explained), which is how we price a ReelShort cost to finish.

DramaBox also says coins can be earned. Its site text on dramabox.com, read Oct 31, says "Download the app to earn coins and unlock all episodes for free". We did not check inside the app how many coins its tasks or ads pay, so we cannot say whether earning them gets you through a whole drama. One reviewer says it does not: a one-star review on Oct 10 says "collecting for over a week gets you 3 episodes". That is one person's count, not a figure DramaBox publishes.

The terms say nothing about coins expiring. One reviewer says bonus coins do: a two-star review on Oct 26 says an offer "granted me 11k coins, no one ever explained it expires in 30 days". We found no DramaBox page that confirms or denies it.

Ads, renewal and refunds: the stores and the terms

The App Store age card lists "Advertising" under Contains, and Google Play says "Contains ads". The same App Store description promises "ad-free streaming and uninterrupted viewing" without saying which purchase, if any, removes them. Reviewers notice: 36 of the 250 recent reviews use the word "ad" or "ads", and a one-star review on Oct 24 says "I’ll watch 15 seconds of a video and have to watch a 1 minute add."

On renewal, the App Store description says a plan renews "Unless the user turns off automatic renewal at least 24 hours before the current subscription period ends", and that "users can manage their subscriptions and automatic renewal in account Settings." DramaBox's terms have no renewal or cancellation section. Payments, they say, "are provided by the third-party service through which the purchase is made (e.g., Apple In-App Purchases, Google Play, PayPay)", so you cancel where you paid, as with cancelling a ReelShort plan.

Refunds: section 7.1 says "All fees are in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable." The same section says "Before you pay any fees, you will have an opportunity to review and accept the fees that you will be charged." The store is a separate route. A one-star review on Oct 28 says the reviewer asked Apple for a refund and got "a “prorated refund” of $14.28 instead of the two $19.99 charges". That is one reviewer's account; DramaBox's terms do not mention store refunds.

Our take

Stick to free on DramaBox, and pick the drama by free minutes, not free episodes. No More Blood For My Vampire First Love gives more than twice the free time of My Weak Little Dog Is a Legendary Sky Lion. If a story hooks you, the $4.99 Special offer, the cheapest of the ten App Store rows, is the smallest thing to try: no row says what it buys, and the terms make every fee non-refundable, so the cheapest row risks the least. Before you accept a $19.99 row, find out how long it lasts: the store listing does not say, and 9 of the 250 reviews say $19.99 or $20 buys one week.

What we don't know yet

  • What an episode costs in coins: no DramaBox page we read prints it.
  • Which App Store row is weekly, monthly or yearly, and what a Special offer buys.
  • How many coins the app's tasks and ads pay, and whether earned coins can unlock a whole drama: we did not check inside the app.
  • Free counts for the 113 non-17+ DramaBox titles in our catalog without one, and episode lengths beyond the six pages we timed.

How we checked this

On Oct 31, 2026 we read, one request each: DramaBox's App Store page, its Google Play listing, its terms and support pages, the dramabox.com home page and six DramaBox drama pages, plus the first five pages of Apple's public review feed for DramaBox (250 reviews, Oct 9 to 29) and DramaBox's YouTube channel, its video feed and two of its videos. Free counts and episode lengths on the six pages come from the episode flags and lengths in each page's data; the times are our sums. Catalog counts come from our DramaBox import, read Oct 18 to 24. We did not buy coins or a Membership. Last reviewed Oct 31.
