Overview

ShortDramaDesk publishes guides to vertical short dramas: where a drama streams, free episodes, cost to finish and app comparisons. This page explains what happens to your data when you read the site. Short version: there are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter, no ads and no affiliate links, and we never ask who you are.

What we collect

Analytics. No analytics tool is switched on right now, so there is no cookie banner. If we add one (we plan to use Google Analytics 4), it will load only after you click Accept on a cookie banner, with advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google signals off, and this page will be updated first.

Things saved in your browser. Your theme choice (light or dark), your Watch later and Watched lists, the articles you save, the articles you have opened, checklist ticks and your cookie banner choice are stored in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device and we never see them, unless you choose to share your watchlist: the share link then carries the list of drama pages in the address itself, and nothing is stored on our server. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Drama ratings. Drama pages let you give 1 to 5 stars without an account. We store the star counts per drama. To stop repeat and automated votes we keep, for 30 days, a one-way hash of your IP address and browser name mixed with the current month, and, for about an hour, a one-way hash of your IP address to cap votes per connection. We never store the IP address itself and cannot turn the hashes back into it.

“Was this helpful?” votes. Guide articles can show a helpful / not helpful button. We store the vote count per article. To stop repeat votes, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for about an hour, then it expires. We cannot turn the hash back into your IP address.

Server logs. Like every website, our web server and our network provider (Cloudflare) see your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for when you load a page. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure.

Email. The site has no forms: the only way to reach us is to email contact@shortdramadesk.com (including Ask the desk questions). Mail to this address passes through Cloudflare Email Routing, which forwards it to the inbox we read. We get what you send: your address, the name your mail app shows, and the message. We use it only to deal with your message. An Ask the desk question may be answered in public, in a dated FAQ entry on the site; the question may be quoted, shortened or reworded, but your name and email address are never published. We don't reply to every email, we never add you to a list, and we don't share your address.

Ads and affiliate links

ShortDramaDesk shows no ads and has no affiliate links, so no ad network or app tracks you here. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before anything goes live, ads will only load with your consent, and affiliate links will be labelled. See our independence note.

Embedded content and outside links

Some articles embed an official video from an app's own YouTube channel, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). The player loads from YouTube when the article opens, and YouTube handles that under the Google Privacy Policy. No other third-party widget is embedded.

Links to the apps' own sites, the App Store, Google Play and community forums take you to sites with their own privacy policies, which we don't control.

Where the site runs

The site runs on a server we rent from OVHcloud in Canada, behind Cloudflare. We don't sell anything on the site, so we hold no payment details, and we don't sell reader data. We don't share reader data with anyone.

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you (in most cases there is none beyond an email you sent us), ask us to delete it, or object to its use. Email contact@shortdramadesk.com and we'll reply as soon as we can. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), the law may give you further rights, and we will honour them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, for example by switching on analytics, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
