Is GoodShort Free? 9 Free Episodes, Then Coins or VIP
Is GoodShort free? To start: a median of 9 free episodes per drama, with ads. Then coins from $4.99 or Weekly VIP from $5.99, and no price per episode.

GoodShort is free to start, not free to finish: ask "is GoodShort free" and the median drama answers with 9 episodes, then ads, coins or a Weekly VIP pass. So the real question is how you pay for the other 54 episodes of a typical 63-episode story. GoodShort sells coins in packs from $4.99 but never says what an episode costs.
TL;DR: Is GoodShort free? For about 9 episodes of a typical drama, yes, with ads. The US App Store lists Weekly VIP at $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99 and coin packs from 500 coins for $4.99 to 2500 for $24.99. GoodShort publishes no coin price per episode, so no cost to finish. Coins cannot be refunded under its terms. Checked Oct 25, 2026.
As of Oct 25, 2026: free-episode counts as GoodShort's pages showed them Oct 18 to 25, prices as the stores listed them Oct 25. Apps change both; we recheck and log changes below.
Is GoodShort free? (quick answer)
Partly. GoodShort is a free download, and its App Store line reads "Free · In‑App Purchases". Most dramas open with free episodes: a median of 9 in our catalog. GoodShort's terms say the free tier comes with ads, and both stores flag them. Past the lock you pay in coins, a weekly pass, or more ads.
Our GoodShort app page keeps the store ratings and every price row, and each GoodShort drama page on this site shows its own free count and read date.
Key Takeaways
- 9 free episodes is the median on 599 GoodShort titles with a lock in the first 11; 10 free is the most common count.
- 63 episodes is the median GoodShort story, so about an eighth is free.
- Weekly VIP: $5.99 to $19.99 on the US App Store, Oct 25, plus two more weekly plans at $19.99.
- Coins: 500 for $4.99 to 2500 for $24.99, no price per episode.
- No refunds on coins: they "cannot be refunded or exchanged for fiat currency", per GoodShort's terms.

Overview: what GoodShort gives away, and what it sells
GoodShort is sold by SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD. on the App Store, rated 13+, with "Contains Advertising" on its age card. Google Play marks it "Contains ads" and "In-app purchases", rated Teen.
The free tier is written into the terms. Section 7.1: "The Services may be provided free-of-charge (i.e., without requiring a paid subscription). In such circumstance, you agree to us providing advertising and other information to you." The same section lets GoodShort "suspend, modify and terminate" free services at any time.
GoodShort's home page sells the free part harder: "Free access to trending short dramas on GoodShort app. Download and watch full episodes anytime & anywhere." Full episodes, yes. All of them, no.

Analysis: how many GoodShort episodes are free
We read GoodShort's drama pages through our catalog import, Oct 18 to 25. Of 882 GoodShort listings, 65 are 17+ and left out. GoodShort's web page lists episodes 1 to 11 with a lock icon on paid ones. On 599 of the other 817, a lock shows up in that list, and their median is 9 free episodes.
Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from GoodShort drama pages via our catalog, read Oct 18 to 25, 2026. 17+ titles left out.
The counts bunch at the top. 185 titles give 10 free, the most the page can show; 118 give 9. Only 99 give 5 or fewer. The median GoodShort story runs 63 episodes, and the median free share is 13%. NetShort, for comparison, has a median of 8 free on our list.
Desk note: On 218 of 817 GoodShort pages, none of the 11 listed episodes carries a lock, so we cannot tell where the paywall starts. One of them is The Daughter They Betrayed Became Their Downfall, number 1 on GoodShort's Most Trending row in our Oct 25 read: 51 episodes, 11 shown, none locked.
A viewer on the App Store heard the same spread: "if you don't have any coins it gives you five free episodes or 10 free episodes. I think it depends on the show." Our numbers agree. It depends on the show.
What GoodShort sells: Weekly VIP and coin packs
Weekly VIP. On Oct 25 the US App Store listed "Weekly VIP" at three prices: $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99. It also listed a "Weekly subscription" at $19.99 and a "WeekIy Membership" at $19.99, spelled that way. Five weekly rows, three prices, and the list does not say which one you will see.
Coins. Five packs: 500 coins for $4.99, 1000 for $9.99, 1500 for $14.99, 2000 for $19.99 and 2500 for $24.99. Every pack works out to the same 100 coins a dollar, rounded. The bigger packs name no bonus.
Table: ShortDramaDesk, from GoodShort's App Store listing, Oct 25, 2026.
Google Play's range. Google Play lists in-app purchases at "$0.99 - $299.99 per item". That is a range across items, not one pack.
What an episode costs. GoodShort does not say. Its drama pages carry a number on the locked episodes we checked, 44, 50 and 42 for episodes 9 to 11 of Swapped to Be the Don's Queen, but no unit and no price list. ReelShort, by contrast, says an episode "usually costs 60 coins"; see our ReelShort coin guide. Without GoodShort's own number, a cost to finish would be guesswork.
The web shop has its own pitch. GoodShort's home page carries a "Top Up Now" banner with "10% extra value vs the app", and no price.
Desk note: At $19.99 a week, the top Weekly VIP row comes to $1,039.48 over 52 weeks, by our math. One App Store reviewer on Oct 23: "$20 a week is a lot. It's better off looking for monthly subscription". The US list shows no monthly plan.
What VIP buys, and how it renews
Google Play lists the VIP perks: "Watch Premium Dramas FREE & AD-FREE!", downloads, 1080P, and "Daily Check-in Rewards: Earn points to extend VIP benefits!" So check-ins add VIP time; they are the fourth route past a lock.
Graphic: ShortDramaDesk, from GoodShort's terms of use, Google Play and App Store listings, Oct 25, 2026.
VIP renews unless you stop it. GoodShort's terms, section 7.2: a membership "may thereafter automatically renew on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis (depending on the subscription plan you selected) until terminated." Google Play adds: "Subscriptions auto-renew unless turned off 24 hours before current period ends." GoodShort's terms say a plan bought through a third party, such as an app store, may need to be cancelled there, much like cancelling a ReelShort plan.
Refunds are narrow. Section 7.7: "Except as specifically provided for in these Terms, payments are non-refundable." Section 7.5: "We do not issue partial refunds or credits for termination of Services mid-billing cycle." Section 7.9 covers coins: "Virtual currency cannot be refunded or exchanged for fiat currency of any kind."

GoodShort's free clips on YouTube
GoodShort's own YouTube channel, GoodShort Moments, posts clips of its dramas. This one runs about 21 minutes, from Return from Death, I Rise as a Billionaire, a 71-episode GoodShort title with 9 free on our list.

What viewers say
App Store reviewers of GoodShort split on how free it feels. A five-star review from Oct 20: "Thankfully this app provides plenty of ways to get additional coins without buying any to watch the next episode in the series." A one-star review a day later: "It says you do not have to watch ads or pay. You do." (App Store)
Cancelling is the other sore point. A one-star review on Oct 19: "I purchased the weekly membership and I'm now unable to cancel." Google Play's listing gives the route for Android: Payments & Subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then GoodShort. (App Store)
Our take
Stick to free on GoodShort until a story hooks you, then buy one small coin pack before any weekly plan. The median drama gives 9 free episodes of 63, so most of a story is paid. Coin packs all cost the same per coin, so a $4.99 pack risks least, and coins cannot be refunded under GoodShort's terms. Weekly VIP at $19.99 renews until you turn it off.
What we don't know yet
- What an episode costs in coins: GoodShort publishes no per-episode price, and the numbers in its page code carry no unit.
- Which Weekly VIP price a given account sees, and why there are five weekly rows at three prices.
- How many ads unlock an episode, or how many points a check-in pays.
- Where the paywall starts on 218 GoodShort titles whose first 11 episodes show no lock.
How we checked this
On Oct 25, 2026 we read GoodShort's home page and terms of use, its App Store page and its Google Play listing, one request each, plus the pages of five GoodShort dramas. Free counts come from our GoodShort catalog import, Oct 18 to 25. Reviews are from Apple's public review feed. The video was checked with YouTube's oEmbed: its author is GoodShort Moments, the channel GoodShort's Google Play listing links. We did not buy coins or VIP. Last reviewed Oct 25.
Frequently Asked Questions

How many episodes are free on GoodShort? Usually 5 to 10: that covers 565 of 599 GoodShort titles with a lock in the first 11 episodes. The median is 9 and the most common count is 10. On 218 more, none of the 11 episodes the page lists is locked, so we cannot say where their paywall starts.
How much is GoodShort VIP? On Oct 25 the US App Store listed Weekly VIP at $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99, plus a "Weekly subscription" and a "WeekIy Membership" at $19.99 each. GoodShort's terms say a plan may renew "until terminated".

Can I get a refund for GoodShort coins or VIP? Not by default. GoodShort's terms say virtual currency "cannot be refunded or exchanged for fiat currency", payments are non-refundable except as the terms provide, and there are no partial refunds mid-billing cycle.
Can I watch GoodShort with ads instead of paying? Yes, as GoodShort describes its free tier: "you agree to us providing advertising". Both stores mark the app as containing ads. No GoodShort page we read says how many ads an episode takes.
