No, as far as the apps' own pages show. The apps list the accounts they run in their App Store text or on their home pages, and Dailymotion is never one of them. Dailymotion's own terms put the rights question on whoever uploads. For a whole drama, the official place is the app; for free episodes, it is the app too.

Overview: why "dailymotion" follows drama titles

People type a drama's name, then the word "dailymotion". Between Oct 18 and 24, Search Console logged 116 different searches with that word that led to our pages: 5,277 impressions. The Dragon's Silly Captive alone drew 3,098 of them, from 22 different queries, 8 of them just spellings of its title. Nobody spells a dragon the same way twice.

The searches have a reason. The apps lock the later episodes, so looking for the rest of the story somewhere else is the obvious next step.

ReelShort even uses the word itself. Its own Fandom blog titles recaps such as "How to Dump a Hockey Star Dailymotion". The page is a written recap with a "Scan QR code to download ReelShort app" box, not a video, and it links to no Dailymotion upload.

Step-by-Step: how to watch short dramas free, legally

1. Start with the free episodes on the app. The apps give away the opening episodes. Of the titles we had read by Oct 25, outside 17+, the median free run was 9 episodes on ReelShort, GoodShort and FlickReels, 8 on NetShort and VibeShort, and 7 on StoryReel.

ReelShort's coin guide sets the same range: "Typically, the first 8 to 13 episodes of most series are completely free to watch." Our catalog agrees on the low end.

The dramas people searched with "dailymotion" are no exception. The Dragon's Silly Captive gives 8 of 40 episodes free on NetShort, and Surf God's Revenge gives 14 of 52 on ReelShort, the longest free run in this group.

2. Check the app's YouTube channel, and expect a cut. ReelShort, NetShort and DramaBox each link one YouTube channel from their own pages. On Oct 25 we read the feed of ReelShort's channel. Of its 15 latest uploads, 11 were Shorts: teasers, "coming soon" clips and a makeup tie-in. Four were regular videos.

The one we opened is official and short. ReelShort posted a 22-minute cut of Agent of Shadows on Oct 24, titled like a plot line: "The World's Deadliest Secret Agent Posed as a Nanny… Just to Protect His Own Daughter!" Its description opens with "FULL EPISODES" and a link, then sends you to the drama's page on reelshort.com.

Agent of Shadows has 72 episodes, and ReelShort gives the first 10 free. Twenty-two minutes of a 72-episode drama is a trailer with ambition. NetShort's channel works the same way: when we searched it on Oct 24, its long videos, about 18 to 50 minutes each, carried story-line titles, not drama names.

3. Earn the app's free coins before you hunt uploads. Ads and check-ins buy episodes on the app itself. ReelShort's is-it-free page says "For one ad, you can earn up to 15-40 coins each time and 175 coins at most." A standard episode costs 60 coins, per its coin guide. So one episode takes two to four ads, by our math, and the cap covers fewer than three.

Check-ins add a little. ReelShort's free-coins page says "Many users receive around 10 coins just for a basic check-in." Slow, but it is the app's own free, and it does not disappear when a rights holder writes to Dailymotion.

4. Check who posted a "full episodes" video. Look at the app's own page first. ReelShort, NetShort and DramaBox drama pages link YouTube, TikTok and Instagram or Facebook. None links Dailymotion.

Then distrust the blue check. On Oct 24 we searched Dailymotion for three of the titles above. For Mafia Daddy Reads My DMs and The Devil Only Wants Her, 15 of the top 20 results each came from verified accounts. For Surf God's Revenge, all 20 did. Not one belonged to NetShort, ReelShort or DramaBox.

5. Look the drama up here. Every drama page on this site outside 17+ answers "Can I watch it free on YouTube or Dailymotion?" with what we found and the day we looked. Mafia Daddy Reads My DMs and The Devil Only Wants Her also name the second app that lists them, with its free count.

What Dailymotion's own rules say

Dailymotion puts the rights question on the uploader. Its terms make each uploader confirm: "You have obtained all necessary rights and/or authorizations and/or consents from the copyright owner(s)".

That is why a full upload can vanish mid-binge. Dailymotion "shall forthwith remove or disable access" to infringing content "once having been notified of its existence". Notices go video by video: "it is not possible to submit takedown requests for a channel itself."

Viewers get a line too. Section 6.10 of the terms reads: "You agree not to access, view, upload, store, share or export any Third-Party Video(s) deemed illegal". We are not lawyers. We just link the apps.

Tips

• Read the title, then the uploader. "Full movie" in a video title is a search term, not a licence. The apps use the same words: DramaBox's own page title for The Devil Only Wants Her contains "full movie watch online free", meaning its free episodes.
• Skip coin generators. ReelShort's free-coins page calls them "100% scams".
• Use the app's YouTube for a taste. Official cuts are legal and free. They are not the whole drama.
• Mind 17+ titles. Some dramas in these searches are 17+; we do not list them, and their pages here carry no video.
