Is the Sereal+ App Worth It? 4.5 on iOS, 3.3 on Android

Is the Sereal+ app worth it? 4.5 stars on the App Store, 3.3 on Google Play, a $17.99 VIP week and terms that can delete idle coins. Checked Oct 25, 2026.

Bar chart of store ratings: Sereal+ 4.5 on the App Store and 3.3 on Google Play, ReelShort 4.7 and 3.8, with rating counts

If you plan to buy coins in the Sereal+ app, read section 6.7 of its terms first: unspent purchased coins can be deleted after 30 days of inactivity. That rule, not the store rating, decides whether Sereal+ is worth paying for. Watching its free episodes costs nothing; a $17.99 VIP week is another matter.

TL;DR: Sereal+ rates 4.5 from 14K App Store ratings and 3.3 from 42.7K Google Play reviews, and 77 of its 100 newest App Store reviews give one or two stars. Its VIP week is $17.99 on the App Store. Its terms let it wipe idle purchased coins after 30 days. Neither store listing shows an update since July 2025. Checked Oct 25, 2026.

Verdict: Use Sereal+ for its free episodes if a title you want is only there. Use ReelShort if you plan to pay: it prints its episode price and says paid coins never expire. Skip the Sereal+ VIP week unless you will watch daily. Prices checked Oct 25.

Is the Sereal+ app worth it? (quick answer)

For free viewing, yes: the app is free and the first episodes of each drama are open. For paying, not yet. The store ratings disagree, the newest App Store reviews are mostly one star, and the terms let Sereal+ turn idle purchased coins into expiring free ones.

Bar chart of store ratings: Sereal+ 4.5 on the App Store and 3.3 on Google Play, ReelShort 4.7 and 3.8, with rating counts Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from the App Store and Google Play listings of Sereal+ (Oct 25) and ReelShort (Oct 18 to 24, 2026).

Sereal+ vs ReelShort: 4.5 and 3.3 stars against 4.7 and 3.8

Sereal+ is sold on the App Store by COL WEB PTE. LTD.; Google Play shows the developer as "Sereal" and its developer details name COL MEDIA CORP. The App Store lists it as "Sereal+ Short Drama, TV Series", rated 13+, 4.5 stars from 14K ratings. On Oct 25 Google Play showed 3.3 stars, 42.7K reviews, more than 10 million downloads and a Teen rating. Its site calls it "a free streaming service that features exclusive mini drama films and TV series". Our Sereal+ app page tracks its store data.

ReelShort is the comparison because it publishes what Sereal+ does not: a price per episode. Its App Store rating was 4.7 from about 513,000 ratings on Oct 24; on Oct 18 Google Play showed 3.8 from 1.94M reviews. See our ReelShort app page.

Prices: Sereal+ vs ReelShort

The App Store lists ten Sereal+ purchases. Six are coin packs: 500 coins for $4.99, 600 for $5.99, 1,000 for $9.99, 1,500 for $14.99, 2,000 for $19.99 and 2,500 for $24.99. Four are subscriptions: "Sereal+ VIP Weekly Plan" at $17.99, and three rows named only by product code, "subscribe_week_12.99", "subscribe_month_24.99" and "subscribe_34.99". The last one prints no period.

What an episode costs is the gap. Sereal+ prints no episode price on its site or store pages. Its drama pages carry one in their data: a field called chapterPrice reads 50 on every locked episode we looked at. If those are coins, the $4.99 pack opens ten episodes. ReelShort's coin guide says a standard episode "usually costs 60 coins", with 500 coins at $4.99.

Bar chart of Sereal+ App Store purchases: six coin packs from $4.99 to $24.99 and four subscription rows from $12.99 to $34.99 Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from the Sereal+ App Store listing, read Oct 25, 2026.

The weekly plans are where the money goes fast. $17.99 a week is $71.96 over four weeks, nearly three times the $24.99 monthly row. Pay weekly only for a week you will actually binge.

ReelShort wins on prices because it prints the 60-coin episode price; Sereal+ only has a number in its page data.

Ratings and reviews: Sereal+ vs ReelShort

The two stores tell different stories about Sereal+. On the App Store it averages 4.5 from 14K ratings. On Google Play, where it has three times as many reviews, it averages 3.3.

The newest App Store reviews side with Google Play. We read the 100 most recent in Apple's review feed: 57 give one star, 20 give two, 15 give three, 7 give four and 1 gives five. They run from September 2024 to Oct 16 last year, so the newest is more than a year old.

Desk note: Neither store shows a Sereal+ update since July 2025: the App Store version is dated Jul 23 that year and Google Play says "Updated on Jul 22, 2025". ReelShort's App Store version is dated Sep 28 this year. An app that has not shipped an update in 15 months is not where we would park money.

Bar chart of star ratings in the 100 newest Sereal+ App Store reviews: 57 one-star, 20 two-star, 15 three-star, 7 four-star and 1 five-star Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from Apple's App Store review feed for Sereal+, 100 newest reviews, read Oct 25, 2026.

On ratings ReelShort is ahead on both stores: 4.7 and 3.8 against 4.5 and 3.3.

Terms and coins: Sereal+ vs ReelShort

Sereal+'s terms (updated October 2023) are short on comfort. "All fees are in U.S. dollars and non-refundable." Coins come "by recharging" and "cannot be exchanged for any currency." Free coins "are only vaild for the period specified in the Sereal+ rules" (their spelling).

Then section 6.7. If your account sits inactive for more than 30 days, Sereal+ may "delete any unspent Coin(s) you have purchased", and on your return it gives "an equal amount of free Coin(s)". Free coins expire; purchased ones, under that rule, can become free ones. Buy only what you will spend this month.

ReelShort's coin guide says the opposite about paid coins: "Paid coins never expire." Its free reward coins "usually come with a time limit."

The ad question is murky. Sereal+'s store description promises "ad-free viewing", and Google Play shows no "Contains ads" label for it. Its drama page data carries an adUnlockFlag on locked episodes, and a two-star review asks "why am I watching advertisements with no option to skip?" We cannot say which is current.

On terms ReelShort is the safer buy, because purchased coins stay yours.

Catalog: what Sereal+ carries

Our reader logged 120 Sereal+ titles by Oct 24. The median runs 48 episodes, from 10 to 125; 47 run 40 episodes or fewer. The most common tags are Female (71 titles), Modern Romance (39), Billionaire (17) and Hidden Identity (13).

Only 5 of the 120 share a title with a listing on another app we track. If a Sereal+ title is the one you want, you will probably not find it elsewhere under that name. That is the strongest case for the app.

On the two drama pages we read closely, the first paid episode was 10 (After Breakup, He Proposes, 56 episodes) and 7 (His Bastard, My Heir?, 50 episodes). ReelShort's median in our catalog is 9 free.

Bar chart of episode counts for 120 Sereal+ titles: 47 run 40 episodes or fewer, 56 run 41 to 70 and 17 run more than 70 Chart: ShortDramaDesk, from our catalog read of sereal.com, 120 titles, Oct 24, 2026.

What viewers say

The complaints are about money. A one-star review from August 2025: "I was charged $24.99 for the VIP subscription. I contacted Apple because I was charged yet was locked out of all videos". A four-star review from December 2024 on pack sizes: "I shouldn’t have to spend $6 for 600 coins when I only need 200 to get through the rest of my story". (App Store)

Who should use which: 115 of 120 Sereal+ titles share no name with another app's

If you only watch free episodes, use Sereal+ for titles it carries alone: 115 of its 120 logged titles do not appear under the same name on another app we track.

If you pay by the episode, use ReelShort. It prints 60 coins an episode, so you can price a drama before you start, as we did for 13 ReelShort titles, and its paid coins do not expire.

If you are tempted by a weekly pass, compare the totals first. Sereal+'s $17.99 week costs more over a month than its own $24.99 monthly row, and ReelShort's App Store list shows a single $19.99 subscription row.

If you go quiet for weeks at a time, keep your Sereal+ coin balance near zero: section 6.7 is written for you.

Our take

Stick to free on Sereal+ until it ships an update and its reviews recover. Its newest 100 App Store reviews are 77% one or two stars, and neither store shows an update since July 2025. Pay on Sereal+ only for a title you cannot find elsewhere, and spend the coins in the same month. We will check the listings again when either store shows a new version.

What we don't know yet

  • What Sereal+ charges per episode: the 50 in its page data is not printed, and its unit is not labelled.
  • What the "subscribe_34.99" row covers: the App Store prints no period.
  • Whether ads unlock episodes: the page data has a flag, the app's text does not explain it.

How we checked this

On Oct 25, 2026 we read Sereal+'s App Store and Google Play listings, sereal.com's home page and terms, two drama pages and its browse page, one request a page, and the 100 newest App Store reviews in two requests to Apple's review feed. We did not install the app or buy coins. The 120 titles come from our catalog read of sereal.com on Oct 24. ReelShort figures come from its App Store data (Oct 24), its Google Play listing and App Store purchase list (Oct 18) and its coin guide (Oct 25). On Oct 28 we read the listings, terms, both drama pages and the review feed again: stars, prices, terms and quotes were unchanged, and the rating counts had moved by about 1% or less (Sereal+ on Google Play 42.6K, ReelShort 516,564 on the App Store and 1.96M on Google Play). Last reviewed Oct 28.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sereal+ app free? Free to download, with in-app purchases. Sereal+ calls itself a free service with "a mix of free and paid content". On the two drama pages we read, the first paid episode was 10 and 7, so the early episodes are free and the rest are locked.

How much does Sereal+ VIP cost? The App Store lists a "Sereal+ VIP Weekly Plan" at $17.99 and three more subscription rows: $12.99 (weekly by its product name), $24.99 (monthly) and $34.99 (period not printed). Coin packs run from 500 coins for $4.99 to 2,500 for $24.99. Read Oct 25.

Do Sereal+ coins expire? They can disappear. Section 6.7 of Sereal+'s terms lets it delete unspent purchased coins after 30 days of inactivity, giving the same amount back as free coins, and section 6.6 says free coins are only valid for a set period. ReelShort's coin guide says its paid coins never expire.

Is Sereal+ legit? It is a real app with more than 10 million Google Play downloads, sold on the App Store by COL WEB PTE. LTD.; Google Play's developer details name COL MEDIA CORP. Its ratings split: 4.5 from 14K App Store ratings, 3.3 from 42.7K Google Play reviews, and 77 of the 100 newest App Store reviews give one or two stars.

Is Sereal+ better than ReelShort? Not on the record we can check. ReelShort rates higher on both stores, prints its episode price in a coin guide and says paid coins never expire. Sereal+ has a weekly plan below ReelShort's $19.99 subscription row and a catalog we rarely see elsewhere.
