Story
Gifted mage Layla gathered ninety-nine cores so her bound whale Neil could walk as a man. He repaid her by piercing her heart and dropping her into the Bloodtide Trench. Given a second chance on her contract day, she turns from him and bonds with a dying spirit snake. Now she refuses to waste her life on people who do not deserve it, even as her sister Evelyn and Neil plot against her.
